Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card - Episodes 7 & 8 (Review)

By: EyeSpyeAlex and RaeThe latest two episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card seem to have almost reached equilibrium. The show is so close to finding the balance between the mystery of the cards and Sakura’s friendships. We’re ready to discuss all that and more in this review. Need to catch up? Check out our last review here!Wanting to learn more about the Record card, Sakura heads to Tomoyo’s so the two can investigate. After some trial and error, Sakura discovers that the way to use Record is to give it specific directions on what to record. Even more interesting is Record can display what it recorded in an incredibly realistic hologram. When Syaoran shows up to find out what the girls discovered, Sakura senses another card and spots movement.Sakura chases the movement through Tomoyo’s garden, but is unable to catch it. As she wonders what card she should use to assist her, she decides to try a different method in securing the card. Remembering that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, Sakura asks the shape if it wants to be friends. The shape acquiesces, allowing Sakura to capture and reveal its name: Flight. Once her friends catch up to her, she decides to give her new card a try.Sakura continues to focus on her friendships and visits Akiho’s house for the first time. After finding out Akiho lives in Eriol’s old house, she and Tomoyo make an effort to visit her. Despite being plagued by more visits to the mysterious gear world, Sakura looks forward to the visit and focuses all on it. Upon arriving the pair are introduced to Akiho’s butler, Yuna D. Kaito. After enjoying tea and cakes prepared by Kaito, Akiho shows Sakura and Tomoyo her library. While in the library, Sakura senses a card, conveniently when Akiho realizes that the one book she wants to show them isn’t there. When Akiho leaves, Sakura begins investigating and realizes there’s a problem with one of the shelves, namely that a portion is missing. Sakura uses her staff to capture her newest card: Lucid.Just as Sakura grasps her new card, Akiho returns with her book. She tells them that the title is Alice’s Adventures in Clockland and opens the book to reveal a mysterious language. Akiho admits that she doesn’t know what the language is, but understands enough of it to enjoy the story. After examining the cover, Sakura realizes it bears an uncanny resemblance to the gear world she keeps entering, but doesn’t know what that means or why.Clear Card still has stunning visuals, and a great nostalgia factor. However, we’re still waiting for the plot to pick up a little more. We definitely have started moving toward more of a solid storyline, but it's been a slow move. New episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card airs on Sunday’s on Crunchyroll and VRV platforms.
