Anime Boston Recap (Friday)

By: EyeSpyeAlexWhat an exciting first day of Anime Boston! Although there was a slight hiccup with an unexpected alarm, the first day should be consider a success. I spent most of my days in interviews – which will be coming soon – but here’s a recap on some of the events I attended today.ACCA: 13 -Territory Inspection Dept.I highly recommend checking out this anime. From director, Shingo Natsume, ACCA is an anime that has a lot of promise. Building on an intense plot, it has gotten everything right so far. The dialogue between characters feels very realistic, the opening and ending themes are very jazz heavy and reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop, and the art style is beautiful. If you want to know more about the first two episodes, check out the review here!Aniplex of America Industry PanelThe panel spent quite some time promoting items currently on sale. However, Aniplex provided anime fans with news on four exciting things. The first is the collector’s edition Blu-ray boxset release of Asterisk War Volume #4, which is coming out on April 25th. The next is The Sword Art Online movie, which has a release date of April 22nd. Thirdly, the Crunchyroll re-premiere of Eromanga Sensei, which will occur on April 8th. Crunchyroll had originally released the first two episodes only, and is now running the whole series starting from the beginning. Finally, Kizumonogatari Part 2: Nekketsu will be released on a collector’s edition Blu-Ray boxset on May 9th.Viz Media PanelViz Media has a ton going on in terms of their upcoming releases. For manga they have Anonymous Noise, The Water Dragon’s Bride, the complete boxset of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Boruto, and Dragonball Super all coming in the very near future. In regards to anime currently available, Viz has Sailor Moon Crystal limited edition boxsets, Naruto Shippuden Set 29, K Missing Kings, and Boruto: Naruto the Movie. In the near future, Viz is also releasing the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure anime boxset in July, and the One Punch Man boxset in April.Sentai Filmworks Industry PanelBefore jumping into upcoming releases, the hosts of the Sentai Filmworks panel went over some new anime releases they have out on the market for fans to enjoy. These include titles such as the Monster Musume Blu-ray boxset, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon season 1 collector’s edition Blu-ray boxset, and the No Game No Life complete boxset on Blu-ray.The hosts of the panel made it clear that the anime they had listed as coming soon. This only guarantees they have the rights to produce it, and no date was specified for the releases. The rights they currently have are for Rin-me, Anonymous Noise, and Atom: The Beginning. Atom: The Beginning is a prequel to anime classic, Astro Boy.Sentai Filmworks also acquisitioned the rights to three new movies. The first is Love Chuniyo and Other Delusions.
