A Conversation With Brian Volk-Weiss (SDCC 2019)

By: Mithrandiel

When I saw the first trailers for The Toys That Made Us I was immediately intrigued - it was a nostalgia powered series that revived the magic of the toys we were all familiar with when we were young. Particular attention is paid to juggernauts like Lego, whose future was anything but guaranteed when they faced dire financial straits in the late 90s.

By bringing in toy industry insiders, The Toys That Made Us constructs a riveting narrative of what was going on behind the scenes of some of the most widespread, beloved toy products on the market.

I had the opportunity to interview the man behind the magic, Mr. Brian Volk-Weiss, on the first official day of San Diego Comic Con 2019. Take a listen as he shares his vision of what his show does, toy companies he admires today, and how he knows that his company is staying ahead of the curve.
