Whalefall: Whitethorn Games' New Kickstarter
Whitethorn Games is a cornerstone of cozy games with titles such as Calico and Lake. I am a HUGE fan of Calico (which is basically a story about a magical girl running a cat cafe) and it's my go-to chill game. It should be no surprise then that I am very excited about their new project...a full-fledged jrpg/srpg/visual novel combo.
Yesterday the publisher dropped the Kickstarter for their new project, and I was instantly sold.
This is set in an original fantasy world where whales...fly?...swim? um, move across the sky. Here they peacefully live out their days,...until the die. Death comes for all, even these big boys, and when they die their remains are so valuable that conflict ensues.
Further complicating the situation are the actions of an evil Queen Lucretia, who shoots a whale out of the sky, causing its premature death, and starting the story for our main character.
The Kickstarter video goes more in-depth about the story and world-building details, and I highly recommend it. Come for the sky whales, stay for the tomato people.
