The Pull! [3.5.25]
There was a time where I did not know the joy of NCBD and I was lost but that was then and this is now, let’s get it with this weeks new comics! Just like last week, one comic from each publisher.
First off we got Marvel Comics! This week I want to highlight a new series, Doctor Strange of Asgard #1. Now Doctor Strange has been the sorcerer supreme for a long time in the comics and he is usually a pillar in major events happening in the comics. Last big event we saw Strange give up the mantel of sorcerer supreme to Doom hoping it was the best choice to help defeat the ancient vampires. Obviously Doom didn’t give back the powers to Strange and now we see Strange on his way to Asgard to see if they are in need of his powers. I am excited to see where this goes and how Strange can change and evolve as a character now that he is no longer the sorcerer supreme!
From Image this week, I want to talk about Monkey Meat: The Summer Batch #1. Now I want to say I have never read the original anthology series from 2022, but I have been told by several friends of mine that the author behind the original series went on to write The Boy Wonder! Which is fantastic. I can only hope this new series is good!
From IDW this week, Mothra: Queen of Monsters #1, now I have always been a fan of kaijus and of the Godzilla mythos. Mothra has always been in my top 5 kaiju even if her power isn’t the strongest in comparison to others. What I also love about the Godzilla mythos is how fantastical it can be when you get really into it. That being said, this series is diving into the fantastical and I can not wait for it!
Now from Dynamite this week its, Darkwing Duck #1, a classic saturday morning cartoon for a lot of people growing up. Darkwing Duck is back in comic form telling the tales of some of his early adventures! I just think this series will be a fun time that will help us forget about some of the problems we face today as we just enjoy our childhood again.
From DC this week, I want to talk about JSA #5, I had never really read the JSA comics or knew much about them. I still don’t to be honest, but this series has been a very enjoyable to read and see how the JSA is very different from the Justice League. They really do feel like a family and that is something I am enjoying right now. The characters have been great and I am ready to see where this series goes.
Next let’s see some upcoming comics that are going to be on FOC this coming Monday 3/12/25.
From Boom Studios! we have Something is Killing the Children #41, this series is still at the top of it’s game even after all these issues and as I have been catching up I can see why people love this series so much. This issue takes us back into Erica’s past as she goes back to the House of Slaughter.
From DC Comics, it’s Absolute Green Lantern #1, the absolute universe titles have been fantastic so far and I am excited to see where this series goes, all I know is Hal and John are in this comic as supporting characters but it will be a new character as the green lantern of this series. Also I have been told that is it a religious horror and that really peaks my interest.
From Marvel, it’s The Ultimates #11! This series has been great so far and this issue, the ultimates want to take Loki off the board so Sif, Thor and She-Hulk make their way to Asgard to confront him and it seems like a new ally joins the fray! I know it’s a long shot but man an Ultimate universe Beta Ray Bill would be awesome. Just got to wait and see!
Lastly for the week from IDW Publishing its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #8, this series has been a really nice continuation seeing how the turtles have grown apart but still at the end of the day they are heroes, heroes with a lot of trauma now. Donnie is going crazy and his brothers are going to have to try and stop him before he goes insane.
That’s a wrap for The Pull! this week, hope something has caught your interest! If not leave a comment and let us know what you are reading this week so we can read it ourselves! Till next time, peace!
