Yesterday’s State of Play announced new titles and gave exciting new looks at previously announced games for PlayStation. Here’s a rundown of what we saw!

Dave the Diver

Dave the Diver is finally coming to PS5 in April! A free Godzilla DLC for the game was also announced. I’m super excited; this is one of the most critically acclaimed games of 2023.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

Kojima Productions showed off a nearly ten minute look at the Death Stranding sequel, out in 2025.

Physint

Playstation Studios and Kojima Productions announced a new action espionage game IP that will be developed after the completion of Death Stranding 2. Kojima sees Physint as the culmination of his work after being a developer for 40 years. He cryptically stated that it’s “an interactive game, but it is also a movie at the same time.” Kojima hopes to transcend the barrier between film and video games.

Dragon’s Dogma 2

Capcom brought a new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma 2, with footage captured on PS5. It looks fantastic; I love what Capcom does with their RE Engine. The game will be released on March 22.

Foamstars

There was a short peek at the first season of Square Enix’s Foamstars. The game is launching on February 6 as a PS Plus Monthly game, and will cost $29.99 starting in March.

Helldivers 2

Here’s a new short trailer for online co-op action game Helldivers 2, available on February 8 for PS5 and PC.

Judas

Ghost Story Games, Ken Levine’s new studio, showed off their new spiritual successor to Bioshock, Judas. The game is set in a retro futuristic city in space full of machines and paranoid residents, where the player can change the story’s course with their actions. You can definitely see Bioshock’s DNA all over this. Judas is a single player, first-person, narrative driven shooter.

Legendary Tales

Urban Wolf Games announced Legendary Tales, their upcoming dark fantasy action RPG PSVR2 game. The hand-to-hand physics based combat looks brutal, and the crafting mechanics look like they’ll be very immersive in VR. It’s also designed for co-op multiplayer! The game supports 4K HDR and runs at 90 fps on the PSVR2. It’ll be out February 8.

Metro Awakening VR

Vertigo Games and Deep Silver revealed a PSVR2 exclusive game set in author Dmitry Glukhovsky’s Metro universe, coming sometime in 2024. It looks terrifying and beautiful.

Rise of the Ronin

We got another look at Playstation Studios’ and Koei Tecmo Team Ninja’s upcoming open world action adventure game set in 19th century Japan in a new gameplay trailer. They showed off the setting, movement, and combat. This is one of the ones I’m most excited about. It’s out on March 22.

Silent Hill: The Short Message and Silent Hill 2

Konami surprise dropped a free Silent Hill game, The Short Message, co-developed with Hexadrive. The game is a psychological horror story for a world where youth struggle with the negative effects of social media, online abuse. This approximately two hour experience is available free for PS5 now!

Konami also showed off a new peek at Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, focusing on combat. I hope Bloober does this classic justice.

Sonic X Shadows Generations

Sega announced this new Sonic game. It’s a remaster of Sonic Generations, packaged with an all new stand-alone Shadow the Hedgehog campaign. It’s coming in Autumn 2024.

Stellar Blade

A new trailer for Sony and Shift Up’s Stellar Blade gave us a closer look at the game’s story, settings, and gameplay. In the game, warrior Eve returns to Earth from an off-world colony in order to fight Naytibas, creatures that suddenly appeared and are attacking humans at the will of a mysterious entity. The writing sounds… not great, but I’ll still be buying this one when it comes out on April 26, because everything else about it looks amazing. You can preorder the game starting on February 7.

Until Dawn

Ballistic Moon and Sony are releasing a remaster of Until Dawn, which is currently also being adapted into a feature film directed by David F. Sandberg. The remaster rebuilds the game in Unreal Engine 5, with improved animations and graphical upgrades across the board, and adds a third person camera. It’ll be available for PS5 and PC later this year.

V Rising

Stunlock Studios’ gothic fantasy vampire survival game V Rising was announced with a trailer showing off in-game footage. It can be played in co-op, which is always a feature I get excited about. V Rising will be out later this year.

Zenless Zone Zero

HoYoverse showed off a killer trailer for Zenless Zone Zero, a new stylish anime urban fantasy action-RPG game that’s in development for PS5. It looks cool as hell and will be released this year.
