Princess of Previews: Nine Awesome Games Coming Out This Week 11/7/2021 - 11/13/2021
It’s that time of the week again! I had so much fun writing last week’s feature that I’m doing it again. Although to be fair, I haven’t had time to play anything. So once again, games I’m excited for! Except this time, it’s bigger and better, featuring NINE games. Strap in for the ride!

I loved the “Choose Your Own Adventure” book as a kid. I didn’t really have video games growing up, so they were as close as I could get. Full disclosure, I was always a goodie two shoes, chose the lawful good route, so no gruesome deaths for this kid. Maybe it’s time I live a little more on the edge. Enter Grave Knight. It touts itself as an interactive visual novel based on SRD 5.1. I have no idea what that is! What I do know is you roll dice, make choices, and go on an adventure to fight the evil Grave Knight. With four different player characters and over 70K words, this game seems like it’ll have a lot of replayability. And while there’s a lot of crpgs out there, I really dig the simplicity and art style of this one.
BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light:

No this isn’t my usual indie fare, but it’s my column, so I can feature whatever I want. I’ve always loved the Atelier games. They’re definitely not for everyone, but I adore the crafting and cute girls doing cute things. Imagine my excitement when Gust decided to make a magical girl game. There just isn’t a lot of games in that genre. Unfortunately, the first Blue Reflection didn’t do great with reviewers and I just kinda skipped it. I will not miss out a second time, which is fantastic because I’m hearing it’s an improvement on the original. Craft, adventure, hang out with friends, wear cute outfits, and save the world. What else could I want?

Sometimes I just know a game is tailored-made for me. Prescription drugs are relevant to my career, and knowledge about them is something I’m weirdly passionate about. The car chooses the driver and so forth. Imagine my delight at this game! Players create new drugs for a top pharmaceutical company in these really nifty puzzles sequences. It also has a narrative/life sim element where players build relationships within the company, make tough choices, and try to make ends meet. Exactly up my alley! (Note: This may have been pushed back as I was writing this. OPE!)
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy
Release Date: November 5th, 2021
Platform: PS4, PS5
Technically this was last week, but I just found out about it this week! Therefore it makes the list! I know very little about Gundam, but I don’t think they’re ever tried to pander to the cute girls doing cute things audience quite this hard. But I see potential in this. I just love some good ole mechas fighting mechas combat. Plus the idea of being one of the peon robots instead of one of the Gundams is an interesting angle. I think it’s worth a shot.

Simple premise, solid execution. Players help the little creepy yet cute main character called Seaweed make his way back to the sea. The big selling point is the hand-drawn art but there are some other things that draw me in as well. Namely the sense of isolation and the puzzles give me serious Myst vibes, which is pretty nifty. Of note, even if the game isn’t your jam, I recommend the trailer. I love the song the developers used, and it gave me some serious goosebumps.

Want to be a virtual chef making dishes out of random crap--sometimes literally? Personally, I don’t dig the blocky art style much but I’m willing to look past it. It features one of my favorite things in video games ever--a cooking system that emphasizes experimentation to make recipes. Embark on your quest to be the best chef in Ambrosia. Throw poop and a bug together, see what happens.

Don’t want to be a chef? Did you ever wish to a slime farmer in a video game? Just me? Okay. (And yes I know Slime Rancher exists but it makes me motion sick.) This game launched a few months ago on XBOX, and now it’s finally coming out this week for PC! Alchemic Cutie does appear to have some problems, namely being a little buggy and the tutorials are a little obtuse. I’m forever the optimist. I think with some tender loving care, these problems can be fixed by the devs. Even if not, I’m sure a trusty guide could help alleviate the worst of problems.

Did the first one really come out three years ago? Dang. I feel old. Well, Jurassic World Evolution is back bigger and better than ever. It looks amazing!

This where I lose all street cred for video games. Full disclosure. Yes, this game looks like it’s for little kids. On the other hand, it’s a reputable publisher, Aksys Games, and actually looks pretty decent. Vet games are usually shovelware, so I’ll take a decent one, even if it looks more suited for the 3DS then switch. Play mini games to treat animals, hang out places after work and unlock over 100 outfits. Let me be honest--in my opinion, this is an improved Nintendogs. Biggest improvement? The virtual pets go back to their virtual owners at the end of the day, so I don’t have to feed them daily.
That’s enough games for one week! They’re all things I’m into and hopefully at least one thing, you, dear readers like. If nothing struck your fancy here, there’s still plenty of other things coming out that didn’t make the list, including Shin Megami Tenshi V and Final Fantasy V Pixel Remasters.
