Glover [Review]
Glover, a peculiar Nintendo 64 game from 199x, has been resurrected by Piko Interactive for modern platforms. While the 4K visuals and updated controls are welcome, the core game remains unchanged, retaining its original graphics and awkward controls. The story revolves around a glove attempting to recover lost crystals for its wizard owner. However, Glover's ambition to emulate platforming giants like Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie falls short due to persistent issues. The camera is still a major adversary, and game-breaking glitches and audio problems remain prevalent. These issues, which include stage completion bugs and audio clipping, severely hinder progress and I rebooted the game several times because I was unable to complete a stage without a bug stopping progress..
Despite these flaws, the game may hold some nostalgic value for those who remember it. However, the abundance of problems, especially compared to the PS1 version, makes it a challenging recommendation. The Nintendo Switch port, in particular, suffers from a multitude of issues that can lead to frustration and impede progress.
