Thursday's Indie Game Wishlist Wednesday

Wishlist Wednesday on a Thursday? Why not? Wishlist Wednesday is a tag on Twitter to highlight indie games. The idea is to suggest games readers might not know about! We’re going to talk about what’s at the top of my wishlist from the indie side this week. Strap in, and enjoy the ride.

Against the Storm

First off is a game that is not at the top of my wishlist because I bought it. We’re going to count it, anyway. Against the Storm is available on Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store in early access. I haven’t played it yet, so I’m not entirely sure what it’s about. It totes itself as a dark rouge-lite city builder with tons of influences. I feel there’s a bit of a Majesty, a bit of Frostpunk, and a lot of other things. I look forward to sitting down and playing it. In the end, the graphics sold me on this—I like the look of the game, especially how the buildings look.

Potionomics

I was lucky enough to catch a stream of this game, and that shot this right to the top of my wishlist. This is a unique game I haven’t quite seen the likes of before. Part time and store management, part visual novel, and part… card battler? That’s right, players haggle with customers via a card battler to set the prices on potions. The graphics are gorgeous, with all the characters being super cute, and many of them being an option for romance. The streamer described it as one of his top games of the year… and he played Elden Ring, so make of that what you will.

For sale on Steam!

A Walk With Yiayia

I spend far more time than I care to admit trawling Twitter for new indie games (Side note: We'll see how recent changes affect this.). Sometimes I find something cool, like the next two. First off is A Walk With Yiayia, a quick game about taking Grandma for a walk. A fall has shaken her confidence, and she’s relying on you to help her make it through the neighborhood. It looks like a short cute wholesome game. I’m a little broke this week, but one I’ll be getting come payday.

For sale on, where else, Steam!

For a Vast Future

It’s very unfortunate that this seems to be overlooked on Steam. I really want more for this game too. It’s near to my heart as it’s basically a Final Fantasy Legends-inspired game. I love those games. The pixel art is gorgeous too and gives me retro RPG vibes. I can’t wait to play this. Again, payday is next week, and I’m hoping once that happens, I can experience this for myself.

For sale on the one and only Steam.

Lonesome Village

Finally, we end this list with the game readers are most likely to have heard about. Lonesome Village is a Legend of Zelda/life simulation mash-up (think animal crossing) with cute animal people. I already have this as I backed it way back when, but I have not checked it out yet. I’ve heard good things, and am excited to play it… in my copious spare time.

On Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One/Series X and Series S

That’s five games. Readers, what’s at the top of your wishlist for this week? Inquiring minds want to know. Comment below, or join in the discussion on The Geekly Grind discord! Maybe next week I can get this out on a Wednesday!

Also, if you'd like more Indie Game stuff, follow me on Twitter. I mostly retweet the many cool things I find on my account. Full warning, I'm hoping to transition to cohost, where you can find me here.
