Victrix Pro AF Gaming Headset [Review]

By: Mithrandiel

Note - We received a review unit of the Victrix Pro AF in exchange for our fair and honest review.

When I was in middle school, I had an area set up on one side of the living room that functioned as my gaming space. I had a small color TV and my Playstation hooked up to it...and often had to keep the volume turned way down as not to disrupt the rest of the family.

I remember one year for Christmas getting my very first "wireless" headset. It took enough AA batteries to power a small city, was massively clunky/heavy, and only got about 2 hours of use, but to me it was freedom. Freedom to enjoy the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack of Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VIII, Brave Fencer Musashi and others.

Of all the wonders of modern technology, I am particularly thrilled with the current state of gaming headsets. Thankfully you don't have to go to Costco to get batteries to power them, they connect directly to your controller and help to spare your family and loved ones from being subjected to the volley of bullets and explosions that you may be wading into on a daily basis.

Companies like HyperX and Alienware have been competing in this space for some time, and now another familiar competitor, Victrix, has released a new sub-$200 headset that's sure to give them a run for their money - the Victrix Pro AF.

I've spent the better part of a month with this headset now and I must say that I'm quite impressed. After spending some time with Audeze's Mobius gaming headset, I wasn't sure what to expect, but given the quality of this headset, combined with its competitive price, I think that the PRO AF is much more likely to be in the average gamer's collection.

Take a look at my unboxing and review below, and if the headset speaks to you, feel free to order your pair here.
